The Victory Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated host Suffolk Christian Academy 46-19 on Tuesday night.

Despite the loss, the Lady Knights’ new head coach Tom Powell saw reason to be encouraged.

“As the game proceeded, we were able to make adjustments and get better and better,” he said.

Senior guard/forward Jenny Rombs and senior center Caitlin Hankins led SCA with six points apiece. Freshman Julia Powell gave a strong defensive effort with four blocks and two steals, while freshman Grace Fowler shot 75 percent from the free throw line (3-for-4).

The Lady Knights (0-1, 0-0) hit the road for a conference game on Friday against Virginia Beach Friends School.
