Barbara Lee Gibbons, 62, of 3545 Jackson Road, Suffolk, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late James David Gibbons and Lula Lee Brown Gibbons.

She was a graduate of Southwestern High School, class of 1970. She retired from Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Care Center as head cook. She was a member of Total Transformation House of Praise and a member of the choir.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Darlene A. Gibbons Little, Libby I. Gibbons Hawk (Willie) and Paulette Gibbons Savage (Ronald); two brothers, James A. Gibbons and Paul Gibbons; godmother, Goldie Jordan; five nieces and three nephews; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Gethsemane Baptist Church with eulogist Bishop Dwight Whitfield and pastor the Rev. Ernest S. Simmons Jr. Interment will be in Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home.
