The Suffolk Police Department SWAT team participated last week in the annual radiothon at 94.9 The Point to benefit Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
Several Suffolk SWAT members, including Lt. T. A. Smith, Sgt. Lance Callis, Sgt. Rob Fahrman, Detective Brandon Upton, Officer Chalimous Grant, Officer Jerry Fowler and Officer Joe Rivera joined the event to make a donation and encourage others to do the same.
“We love it when our officers display the hearts behind the badges they wear each day,” Suffolk Police Chief Thomas Bennett said. “We are proud of them for wanting to get involved in this worthwhile cause.”
The radiothon lasted from Wednesday to Saturday. Donations from individuals and groups help to provide equipment that is vital to the care of children while at CHKD, which is dedicated to all children in need.
