Suffolk cancels Christmas parade

With forecasters calling for a 100-percent chance of rain, Suffolk officials have announced the cancellation of the Suffolk Christmas Parade, which was scheduled for Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service is calling for rain beginning after noon on Saturday, with temperatures rising into the low 50s. Rain will continue throughout the afternoon and evening and should taper off into the morning hours on Sunday, with up to an inch and a half of total rainfall expected.
According to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink, the city’s other official holiday events scheduled for Saturday will continue.
They include:
- Holiday Craft Storytime at the North Suffolk Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The entire family can enjoy stories, songs and a holiday craft to take home. For more information, call 514-7150.
- Put A Little Love in Your Stocking Adopt-A-Thon at the Northern Suffolk PetSmart. Suffolk Animal Care and Suffolk Humane Society will host an Adopt-A-Thon from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santa will also be available for photos with families and their pets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 514-7855 or 538-3030.
