Man arrested in shooting

Suffolk police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting Friday night that injured two people and left vehicles and storefronts damaged at Plaza West Shopping Center.
Maurice Boykins, 26, of Suffolk, was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm, reckless use of a firearm, two counts of shooting into an occupied building and two counts of felony vandalism, according to Suffolk spokesman Tim Kelley.
Two people were injured in the 8:55 p.m. shooting in the 800 block of West Constance Road, Kelley stated in a press release late Friday night. One was treated at Sentara Obici Hospital, and the other was treated at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Neither had life-threatening injuries, according to Kelley.
Also during the shooting, two unoccupied vehicles were damaged, as well as two storefronts in the shopping center, Kelley stated in an update on Saturday.
No patrons were injured in the incident, he added.
