A Suffolk man died Sunday after surgery following a moped accident the previous Thursday.

Frank Morris Kelly, 53, was riding a moped in the 200 block of Pinner Street when he struck a concrete planter about 6:46 p.m., according to a police report. He was thrown from the moped and suffered injuries to his upper body.

His injuries were not considered life-threatening at the time, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said, but he died in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Dec. 29 because of complications from surgery.
