The Suffolk Partnership for a Healthy Community and Obici Healthcare Foundation plan a Jan. 13 Civic and Youth Leadership Forum to get folks excited about the Healthy People Healthy Suffolk initiative.
The event will be held at Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main St., from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
“We particularly want people who are part of civic leagues to become actively engaged in Healthy People Healthy Suffolk by participating in work groups,” said Rick Spencer, senior program officer at the Obici Healthcare Foundation.
“It’s all part of our efforts to make Suffolk a healthier community by bringing people together. They can find things that they have in common and get motivated to work at the grassroots level and raise awareness about the need to improve the health of Suffolk residents.”
Speaking at the dinner meeting, catered by Moe’s, will be John W. Martin, chief executive officer of the Boomer Project and president and CEO of the Southeastern Institute of Research.
The Boomer Project is a marketing think tank that tracks demographic and social trends and provides consultation on how to communicate with different generations. Southeastern Institute of Research Inc., headquartered in Richmond, conducts consulting and studies for companies looking to market products.
Prior to joining the Southeastern Institute of Research, Martin led the marketing efforts of PBM Products, which developed and distributed baby formula.
RSVPs are requested by Jan. 8 by calling 539-1525.
