Lois J. Allmond, 65, of Suffolk entered eternal rest on Jan. 01, 2014.

She was a native of Nansemond 
County. She was the daughter of the late Hurley Sr. and Estelle Kelly Young. She was born on May 14, 1948.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin L. Allmond, and sisters, Janice Young, Essie Young, Lucille Baker and Daisy Young.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Teressa Chambers (Lorenzo), Alfred Young (Sharon), Quendell Young and Lashonda Garvin (Joseph); 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one godson, Jerry Allen; two goddaughters, Chantae Young and Sabrina Allen; her siblings, Virginia Wilson (Rev. Vernon), Catherine Ricks, Mary Pittman, Carrie Wilson, Helen Chapman, Hurley Young Jr. (Mary), John Young (Terri), Joyce Young-Ford (Claude) and Lisa Young; three dedicated nephews, Ronald Cargill, James Ricks Jr. and William Wilson Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Chapel.
