A Suffolk man has been charged in connection with a robbery that occurred last week at the Miller Mart on Holland Road.

Suffolk police have charged George Lee Carroll III, 53, with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink.

According to earlier police reports, a man entered the store in the 1500 block of Holland Road at about 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 3 and then displayed a handgun and demanded money. He fled after taking an undisclosed amount of cash, but police found surveillance images of the robber in the store.

Carroll is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail, Klink stated in a press release.
