Liberty Baptist Church is bringing a free parenting seminar to North Suffolk and Hampton after folks who attended a marriage seminar last year suggested it, Senior Pastor Grant Ethridge said.

Ethridge will present the six-week seminar with wife Tammy. It will be live and in-person at the Hampton location, and there will be a live telecast in North Suffolk, in Bridgeway Technology Center at 7025 Harbour View Blvd.

“Last year we did a marriage seminar, and we had over 3,000 people,” Grant Ethridge said. “When we ended it, they requested that we do one on parenting.”

The Wednesday classes run in the worship centers starting at 6 p.m., beginning Wednesday. Registrations are being taken online at www.libertylive.com.

“Every parent wants to be a better parent and wants the best for their children,” Ethridge said. “My wife, Tammy, and I don’t have all the answers, but we know the one who does.”

Seminar topics, he said, include parenting and purpose, roles, relationships, discipline, challenges and milestones. The seminar includes interactive question-and-answer sessions, he added.

Parents can bring their kids with them, who’ll learn about the same topics in the children’s and students’ ministries, Ethridge said.

“Hopefully, this will get parents, children and teenagers all on the same page,” he said.

Between both campuses, about 3,000 had registered for the seminar as of Friday morning, he said, adding, “Hopefully we’ll have a large crowd in both places.”

Prizes will be given away each night, Ethridge said, culminating in the major prize of a family trip to Walt Disney World.

“It’s just a way to make a difference in our community,” he said. “We are doing it during the week so more people can attend.

“Our mission statement is changing lives, communities and the world.”

The Harbour View campus opened in September with 946 people, Ethridge said, and has averaged more than 700 people every week since.
