A local organization will hold a “Healthcare Enrollfest” in Suffolk on Saturday to help people learn about and sign up for a health care plan under the Affordable Care Act.

The event, sponsored by Celebrate Healthcare LLC, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 809 Lincoln Ave. It is free and open to the public.

“People can come to talk to someone and see what the different plans are and see what’s available to them,” said Gaylene Kanoyton of Celebrate Healthcare. The organization has done nine of the events before in other Hampton Roads cities and plans a big one on March 7 and 8 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

“This will be a good one, because we’ve already gotten quite a few calls,” Kanoyton said.

In addition to educating people about the plans and helping them apply, the event will include other resources, including the Urban League of Hampton Roads, for employment, personal finance and other issues.
