Rape suspect turns himself in

UPDATED 3:31 p.m.: City spokeswoman Diana Klink said Jerrod Kion Boone turned himself in at Suffolk Police headquarters Thursday afternoon. He will be transported to Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
Earlier: Suffolk police are seeking the public’s assistance locating a Portsmouth man wanted on a charge of rape.
Jerrod Kion Boone, 31, of the 3700 block of Western Branch Boulevard, is described as a black male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 142 pounds.
The alleged rape occurred on Dec. 31 following a date after Boone and the female victim had been corresponding online, according to a news release from city spokeswoman Diana Klink.
