Suffolk Public Schools, NSA closed Friday

Suffolk Public Schools will be closed again Friday, according to a news release from division spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw.
“Student safety is a top priority,” she wrote in the email. “Many neighborhoods and tree-covered roads continue to experience icy road conditions which would make school bus travel dangerous.
“School sidewalks and parking lots also have unsafe icy conditions and freezing temperatures are returning,” she added.
Bradshaw noted Friday would have been an early-dismissal day because of exams, so a delayed opening would cut out most of the school day.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week will be early dismissal days for all students, with exams from Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, respectively, rescheduled.
Thursday and Friday of next week will be full days for all students.
In addition, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy announced it will be closed Friday, with after-school activities and sporting events canceled or postponed. However, the school still will have its Art Show and Sale Sponsors’ Reception Friday at 6:30 p.m.
