James Thomas Johnson, 89, of 8488 Pineview Road, Suffolk, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Southampton and the son of the late William Crawley Johnson and Ida Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Baker.

He retired from Sach’s Peanut Company. He was a member of Laurel Hill UCC.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Peggy Riddick and Janet Dildy, both of Suffolk; one son, James Clayton Boone, of Suffolk; one sister, Dollie Mae Boone; one brother, Earl Johnson; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Laurel Hill United Church of Christ officiated by the Rev. Carl Sweat Jr. Interment will be in Laurel Hill UCC Church Cemetery.
