Pruden Boulevard is back open after being closed much of the morning following an early accident.
The tractor-trailer accident happened about 1:32 a.m. in the 4600 block of Pruden Boulevard, near the intersection with Gardner Lane, according to a city press release. The 18-wheeler ran off the road to the right, struck a light pole and landed on its side. It was hauling about 24,000 pounds of empty pallets.
The driver, Michael Perry Settle, 55, of Sevierville, Tenn., was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. He was issued a summons for reckless driving, according to the release.
About eight customers were without power until Dominion Virginia Power replaced the damaged pole and re-attached power lines.
