The National Weather Service has canceled early a tornado watch for Suffolk and much of eastern Virginia, which was initially set to be effective until 5 p.m.

Strong thunderstorms passed through the area throughout the afternoon. City spokeswoman Diana Klink said no weather-related property damage had occurred, but a handful of crashes were attributed to the weather.

In one crash, a single vehicle slid into a ditch in the 4800 block of Nansemond Parkway, and the single occupant of the car reported no injuries. Another accident involved three vehicles in the 2200 block of Wilroy Road, and two victims were taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
