Suffolk police conducting a welfare check discovered a woman dead in her home on Thursday afternoon.

The woman, Brenda L. Asburn, 50, was found dead in her home in the 8200 block of Crittenden Road after the request for the welfare check was made at 4:23 p.m., city spokesman Tim Kelley said.

Kelley said two dogs were found dead outside the home. The cause of death is yet to be determined, but police do not suspect foul play, Kelley said.

No additional information was available Friday.
