Murder suspect arrested

After more than a year on the run, a murder suspect is in custody after U.S. Marshals located him in Georgia.

Monte Robinson, 20, faces charges related to the murder of 24-year-old Angelo Fleming Beale on March 24, 2013. Beale was shot at an apartment complex on Stacey Drive just before 3 a.m. that day.

The Suffolk Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Taskforce have been working together to locate Robinson, according to a press release from the marshals service. Robinson was believed to have fled the area soon after the homicide.

The Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force in Atlanta received information about Robinson’s whereabouts, and Norfolk-based deputies working with Suffolk police provided key details regarding Robinson and possible family members, according to the press release.

Robinson was arrested Wednesday morning at 10:45 a.m. as he exited a residence near Torch Hill Road in Columbus, Ga.

Robinson faces charges of first-degree murder, shooting in the commission of a felony, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.
