Riverfront Shoppes ‘generating interest’

Another commercial project in North Suffolk — Harbour View Boulevard’s Riverfront Shoppes — has been pushed back slightly but is generating “a lot of interest” from potential tenants, its leasing agent said.
The retail, office and medical development, under development by Virginia Beach-based Gee’s Group, is located near the corner of the boulevard and River Club Drive.
According to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink, final sign-off on the site plan was expected before the end of last week, after which land-disturbing and building permits could be issued.
“They can’t do anything until it’s approved,” said J.C. Wynkoop, a commercial sales and development agent with S.L. Nusbaum Realty. The site plan approval that was still pending last week “will probably push (completion) back to the end of the year or early 2015.”
The project will span 39,000 square feet across two buildings. Available spaces in the first building would range from 1,220 to 19,000 square feet, and the second building would be from 1,769 to 7,076 square feet, according to Wynkoop.
“We have some letters of intent” from prospective tenants, he said. “Nothing that we can announce yet. As soon as leases are done, we can start announcing that.”
Wynkoop said he had received a high level of calls from Riverfront residents, “and a lot of them are interested in opening businesses.”
“With the level of quality there’s going to be in the craftsmanship and the tenants, it’s going to be a win-win,” he said.
