Participate in Relay For Life

The Suffolk Relay For Life is on its way again this year, and we could hardly be more excited.
The annual event is a time for people from all over Suffolk and surrounding areas to come together for one common goal — getting rid of cancer.
There’s likely not a person in America anymore who doesn’t know someone who has fought cancer. The American Cancer Society’s goal is making sure that eventually, cancer will be a bygone disease, like the measles or polio, which have been eradicated in America through the use of vaccines.
The ultimate solution to cancer probably won’t be as simple as a vaccine, but a lot of people in Suffolk and across the United States are trying to make sure it happens nonetheless.
Teams in Suffolk raise money nearly all year long through a variety of means, including bake sales, car washes and even more unconventional methods like the Nansemond River Pilot Club’s Womanless Beauty Pageant.
But there’s still time to get involved this year. Visit www.relayforlife.org/suffolkva to learn more about how you can form a team. You can even just show up on the day of the event and partake in the many activities, which range from somber remembrance ceremonies to fun and games.
The fight against cancer is up to us, and we encourage everyone to participate.
