Fritz Darrell Skeeter, 53, of 2057 Meadow Country Road, Suffolk, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of Aubrey Skeeter and Lorraine Brinkley Skeeter. He was predeceased by one brother, Bobby D. Skeeter.

Fritz was a 1979 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and attended Virginia State and Norfolk State universities. He was employed at Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding as a senior engineer. He was member of the Mt. Ararat Christian Church of Suffolk. Fritz’s religious affiliations included Deacon Ministry, Chairman of Trustee Ministry, Combined Choir, Senior Choir, Male Chorus, Male Usher Ministry and Men’s Fellowship. Community and civic affiliations included Kiwanis Club of Suffolk and the Economic Development Authority for the city of Suffolk.

He leaves to celebrate his legacy, a wife, Darlene Duke Skeeter of Suffolk; one son, Durrell Skeeter, of Suffolk; parents, Aubrey and Lorraine Brinkley Skeeter, of Suffolk; one sister, Donna Lewter, (Ronald), of Suffolk; sisters-in-law, Karen Skeeter and Charlene Scott (Elder Calvin); brothers-in-law, Ronald Duke (Gloria), Clifton Howell (Linda), Raymond Cotton (Pattie) and Kevin Blanchard (Susan); aunts, Lillian Brinkley, of Virginia Beach, Dora Lockett, of Washington, D.C., Eloise Skeeter, of California, Doretha Milteer (Eugene), and Lennora Skeeter, both of Suffolk; uncle, John Brinkley (Dorothy), of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Mt. Ararat Christian Church, officiated by Dr. H. Harvey Murrill Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is being held at 2332 Hosier Road, Suffolk. Viewing will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is in charge.
