Alexander Copeland

Alexander “Boogie” Copeland, 58, of Manning Road, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Virginia Copeland and Alexander Yates. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donnell Copeland.

Alexander was a 1975 graduate of Forest Glen High School. He also attended Paul D. Camp Community College. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and was a member of Grove Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda A. Copeland; daughter, Malinda Copeland; two sisters, Cindy Wright and Kim Wright, both of Suffolk; five brothers, Jeffrey Hart, of Suffolk, Ricky Hart (Cathy), Glenn Hart (Phyllis), Kenneth Hart (Tammy), all of Hyattville, Md., and Brian Hart (Cassey), of Hollywood, Fla.; one grandchild, Sabrina Copeland; one uncle, Bishop Clarence Copeland (Carol); one aunt, Lillian Yates; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at noon Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Crocker Funeral Home Inc. Suffragan Bishop Madison Copeland will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive guests at 1942 Manning Road, Suffolk. Professional services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
