Bruce Copeland “PawPaw” Holland Sr., 82, passed away peacefully at Sentara Obici Hospital on Friday, April 25, 2014, amongst family.

A longtime native of Holland, he was a son of the late William Bina and Edna Copeland Holland. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruby H. Vincent, Evelyn H. Rogers, brothers, Holmes Earl, Elliott, Beverly and Carroll Holland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Carr Holland; daughter, Arlene H. Smith and husband T. Bracy Smith; granddaughter, Erica Danielle Smith; son, Bruce C. Holland Jr. and wife Pamela C. Holland; grandsons Bruce Adam Holland and Allen Crawford Holland; sister, Almyra H. Wilson (David); and brother, Curtis M. Holland (Ivey Mae); sisters-in-law, Josephine R. Carr and Glenda B. Carr; numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Thomas Holland.

Bruce was a 1951 graduate of Holland High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a past employee of Union Camp Corp., owner of Holland’s Wood & Metal Shop, Carrsville, and retired from Butler Paper Company in Franklin. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Daniel Peak, Dr. Atienza and the staff of Virginia Oncology Associates and the staff of Sentara Obici Hospital for the excellent care given.

A family visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Franklin.

The funeral will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Colosse Baptist Church, Windsor, with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial with U.S. Naval honors will be in the Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be to Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, 6361 Rhodes Drive, Windsor, VA 23487.
