A Norfolk woman was arrested Thursday on child abuse and other charges following allegations that she abused a juvenile family member in her care when she resided in Suffolk.

Donna Evette Manson, 45, is charged with two counts of child abuse or neglected, child cruelty, aggravated malicious wounding, shoot, stab, cut or wound, kidnapping and failure to seek medical attention.

City spokeswoman Diana Klink said the charges are related to alleged incidents that occurred from Sept. 1 to Oct. 10, 2013, when she lived in the 6000 block of Bradford Drive. The child was immediately removed from her care at the time of the investigation, Klink added.

The child involved was female and allegedly was abused both physically and emotionally, Klink’s news release said. Manson is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
