MILLEDGEVILLE — Dr. William “Bill” Mizelle Jr., age 70, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014. A funeral will be conducted Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville, with Dr. Mike Cavin officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Oconee Memorial Park in Watkinsville, Ga.

The family will be at Williams Funeral Home of Milledgeville Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. to receive friends.

Dr. Mizelle was a native of Colerain, N.C., and had made his home in Milledgeville for the past 14 years after moving from Oconee County. He was the son of the late William O. Mizelle Sr. Dr. Mizelle received his doctorate from Clemson, had worked for the University of Georgia Extension Service and attended the First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Nancy Mizelle, of Milledgeville; daughters, Susan (Devin) Wright, of Cumming, Heather (Greg) Pittman, of Nicholson, and Sarah (Will) King, of Columbia, S.C.; son, William (Gini) Mizelle III, of Canton; mother, Ida Cale Mizelle, of Chesapeake; sister, Janet (Randy) Vick; brothers, Andy (Shirley) Mizelle and Henry (Barbara) Mizelle; and grandchildren, Emily Wright, Jacob Wright, Megan Wright, Julia Pittman, Joshua Pittman, and Cole Mizelle.
