A Suffolk man is in custody following a stabbing on Friday on Day Street.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the call at 6:14 p.m. They found a victim who had been stabbed in the chest following an argument. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed life-threatening, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.

Police located the suspect a short time later and arrested Robert Henry Smith, 63, on a charge of aggravated malicious wounding.
