NSA boys play for state lax title

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ lacrosse team edged out North Cross School 12-10 in Friday’s state semifinal to advance to its first state championship game since 2001.

Saints sophomore Noah Dowd poured in five goals, senior Brandon Witherow recorded a hat trick, senior Michael Tyler Lepore registered two goals and an assist, while freshman Tanner Jackson had one goal and three assists and junior Addison Peak had one goal and one assist.

NSA senior goalkeeper Dan Hotte contributed nine saves.

The Saints will play The Covenant School today at 1 p.m. at Randolph-Macon College to determine which will be the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state champion.
