A male student at Mack Benn Jr. Elementary School has been suspended after allegedly bringing a toy gun with a small knife attached to school.

The boy brought the item to school on May 15, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said. The item was no displayed in a threatening manner, and no students were injured. School division spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said the boy’s suspension was for 10 days with a recommendation for an administrative hearing.
