Car strikes house on Holland Road

A home on Holland Road received significant damage to its porch and other areas after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded after the accident occurred at 1:35 p.m. in the 2400 block of the road.

The male driver, 66, was driving his Chrysler four-door sedan eastbound when he left the roadway and struck the house. No one inside the home was injured.

The man was unable to open the door to his vehicle after he struck the house but was assisted by rescue personnel. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The accident remains under investigation, and one lane of Holland Road eastbound was closed for several hours.
