Jeffrey Fenton Pope, affectionately known as “Pope,” 43, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 18, 2014. He was born on Feb. 14, 1971, in Hertford, N.C.

He attended Forest Glen High School and was the owner of Pope’s Auto Service on East Washington Street. He was a lover of racecar racing, family gatherings and grilling food.

Pope leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandra Boone-Pope; five children, Jamal Gibson, Jamalia Worthington, Nijel Smith, Nasir “PJ” Pope and Rontrel Scott; parents, Johnnie and Joyce Pope; grandmother, Classie Mae Pope; three stepchildren, Shea’ Parker, LaRay Kindred and Michael Kindred; sister, Annette Jordan (Allen); four brothers, Kelsey Pope, Ronald Pope (Tracey), Antwon Pope (Stephanie) and Herbert Beamon; grandson, Landon E. Gibson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Mr. Pope will be on view at the funeral home today from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life service will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. at New Mt. Joy FFLM Church, and he will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery.
