Robert Langley Nelms, 85, passed away May 24, 2014 in Norfolk. He was the son of the late Effie and Ernest Nelms and was a member of Oakland Christian United Church of Christ in Chuckatuck for 62 years.

He is survived by his bride of 62 years, Barbara; sons, Robert W. Nelms and wife, Elizabeth, and David B. Nelms and wife, Molly; grandchildren, Sarah Nelms, Ashley Nelms, Matthew Nelms and Abagayle Nelms; and two great-grandchildren, Reese and Alana.

A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Gregory Ryan on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Oakland Christian United Church of Christ. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakland Christian Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 2008, Suffolk VA 23432.
