Target traffickers, not trafficked

To the editor:

Although recent coverage of the Nigerian terrorist threat to sell hundreds of kidnapped children has provoked international outrage, we must remember that child trafficking is a serious issue both at home and abroad.

Child exploitation targets the individuals who are most in need of our protection, and we can tolerate neither active nor passive involvement in the trade.

I agree with the approach that Congressman Randy Forbes has taken in the SAVE Act.

By targeting both traffickers and the advertisers that support their trade, we can bring a swifter end to a vile practice.
