Former NBA player and Suffolk native Michael Britt will be hosting the third annual “Communities Coming Together” basketball event this year at the Robert W. Harrell Jr. Physical Health and Education Center on Bank Street.
“It’s getting larger every year,” Britt said.
He and his nonprofit organization, Britt-Quinn Enterprise, Inc., will be expanding the event to three days, June 26-28.
There will be a meet and greet on Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn on East Constance Road.
Britt said he will have some special speakers share important life lessons they have learned with the event’s young participants, including telling them “how God has picked us up and allowed us to change.”
Games at the gym on Bank Street will feature a range of teams, from elementary-school level to 45 and older. Britt is still in the process of adding teams, but currently has more than 20, including some from out of state.
There will be pro-am squads active, and some teams will feature NBA hopefuls.
