Cenith Hobbs Evans, 88, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Mary P. and William Henry Hobbs. Cenith was predeceased by her husband, Ervin W. Evans, and a great-grandson, Matthew Hudson.

Mrs. Evans was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church and member to the Faith Seekers Sunday School Class. She retired from General Foods from the packing department.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda E. Garnett and husband, Fleet; sons, E. Larry Evans and wife, Marilyn, and Wayne Evans and wife, Carolyn, all of Suffolk; eight grandchildren, Tracy Hudson (Richard), Wesley Rawls (Renee), Amanda Allison (Doug), Amy Turner (Michael), Cynthia Cale (Robbie), Clay Evans (Ann), Vickie Bailey (Eric), and Shawn Garnett (Sarah); and 15 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson with Tim Rawls assisting. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the COC Building Fund, Wilroy Baptist Church, 306 Williams Road, Suffolk, VA 23434, or the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
