Mary “Sugar” Young Gatling, of Suffolk, went to be with the Lord on June 25, 2014.  She is survived by her three children: Ronnie C. Gatling, of Fort Smith, Ark., Devi G. Willis, of Newport News, and Mar’Sha L. Gatling, of Mt. Joy, Pa.; sister, Barbara Wilson, of Suffolk; brother, Roy Powell, of Norfolk; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, the Pastor’s Aide Club, and a former member of the Ladies Chorus. She was an animal lover who enjoyed spending time in her garden and cooking.
