Melvin Demiel

Melvin Demiel, 61, of 925 Brook Ave., Suffolk, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Walter Morris and Elizabeth D. Hall. He was preceded in death by a son, Sherond Demiel; three sisters, Kate Copeland, Vernell Outland and Florence Williams.

He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. Melvin served in the U.S. Army for 12 years. He was employed as a custodian with the Suffolk school system.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Melvin Larry Demiel; five sisters, Beatrice Hunter (Thomas), of Suffolk, Evelyn Copeland, Gloria Nichols (Ronald), all of Suffolk, Marion Rountree (Gary), of Chesapeake, Jane Potts (Jeffrey), of Fredericksburg; three brothers, James Hall (Emma), of Aliquippa, Pa., Willie Hall Jr., of Suffolk, and Kenneth Hall (Denise), of San Antonio, Texas; aunts, Esther Knight, Marie Williams, Catherine Demiel, Gracie Demiel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
