A North Carolina man died Saturday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Carolina Road.

The victim has been identified as Kenneth James Wiggins Jr., 26, of Hobbsville. The accident happened about 5:56 a.m. in the 700-800 block of Carolina Road just before the Southwest Suffolk Bypass.

According to a city news release, the Toyota Tundra four-door pickup truck was traveling northbound when it left the roadway, struck a culvert and flipped several times.

Wiggins, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for the morning and part of the afternoon while police investigated.
