The end on Earth marks the beginning in eternity.
On the evening of July 28, 2014, God saw fit to call our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather, mentor and friend home to eternal rest.
Gary T. Bush Sr. was born March 18, 1964, to Clifton, Sr. and Gaytha Bush. A native of New Haven, Conn., Gary attended both private and public schools. He graduated from Cooperative High School and attended the University of New Haven and Hampton University.
For years, Gary worked in the medical field where he served hospital and dialysis patients.
Gary also served the community as a Little League sports parent, event organizer for the parent boosters, caterer, concessions worker and mentor to some of the players.
Whenever the opportunity presented itself, he evaluated the coaches, referees and umpires, too.
Gary loved people and seeing them happy, motivated and uplifted. Often, Gary could be found sitting, talking, and learning from his elders or preparing to cook and feed the masses.
Cherishing great memories are the following: his wife of 16 years, Sherry T. Bush; two sons, Gary Thomas Bush Jr. and Joshua Malcolm Bush, both of Suffolk; one daughter, Krysta Sherie Bush, of Suffolk; one grandson, Hayden Thomas Bush; mother, Gaytha Bush of New Haven; three brothers, Clifton Bush Jr., Curtis Bush (Debra) and Edward Bush (Trina) all of New Haven; one sister, Delzora Bush of New Haven; two aunts, Betty Mewbern of Ayden, N.C., and Alberta Moye of New Haven; two uncles, Walter Moye and Kelly Moye of New Haven; four godchildren, Donovaughan and Dionte Brown of Smithfield and Nathan-Michael, II and Zoe Smith of Henrico County; a father figure, Leslie Harper (Joyce) of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Gary was predeceased by his father, Clifton Thomas Bush Sr.; his sister, Dolores Bush; and his paternal aunts and uncles.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries, officiated by Pastor Viola Parker. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
