Woman guilty in shooting

A Suffolk woman was found guilty Friday of charges stemming from a shooting on July 20, 2013.

Gwendolyn Lee Burton-Green, 41, was found guilty of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, robbery and shooting.

She will be sentenced Oct. 20. Her son, Taquan Deandra Burton, 20, is charged in the same shooting and has a Nov. 7 trial date set.

Police say the two shot a male, 20-year-old victim about 10:40 p.m. that Saturday in the 300 block of Wellons Street. After being airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, he underwent surgery and survived his injuries.

Taquan Burton’s charges include aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.
