Irene Scarrow, 78, passed away Aug. 15, 2014. She is the daughter of the late Ethel and Hyrum Smothers.

Irene is survived by her husband of 38 years, Floyd Scarrow; daughters, Shirley Daniels, of Atlanta, Ga., Karen Jones and husband, Jerry, of Chesapeake, Julie Cary and husband, Dennis, of Illinois, Mary Catherine Krenger, of Idaho, and Estina Taraske, of Nevada; sons, David Lyn Starcher and Ricky Starcher, both of Chesapeake; sister, Ruby Walters, of Lewis, Del.; and brothers, Kenny Smothers and John Smothers, both of Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. John Hunter in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk, VA 23434. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
