Police continue to investigate a Sunday evening shooting at a police officer, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said Monday.
An officer was traveling in her patrol car on Freeney Avenue with her driver’s side window down about 8:53 p.m. when she saw about five black males on the left side of the road, Klink said. They yelled at the officer as she drove by, but she couldn’t make out what they were saying.
As the officer looked in her rearview mirror, she saw one of the subjects fire three shots. The officer saw the muzzle flashes and felt the rounds pass by her driver’s side window, Klink said.
The officer was not injured. As she turned her vehicle around, she saw the group running away.
Another officer had already been dispatched to the area in reference to shots fired when the shooting at the patrol car happened, Klink said.
Additional officers responded, and the incident remains under investigation, Klink said.
