Mason earns academic honors

Shanice Lennell Mason, daughter of R. Calvin and Queenie Mason Sr., received academic honors at Virginia Commonwealth University by making the university’s Dean’s List for the fall and spring semesters for the 2013-2014 school year.
A junior at Virginia Commonwealth University, Mason is majoring in dance and choreography in the university’s School of the Arts. She earned a 4.0 (fall) and 3.76 (spring) grade point average for the academic year.
Mason also received the award for Outstanding Performer by the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts Department of Dance and Choreography for the 2013-2014 academic year. In addition, Mason was recognized on Aug. 20 as a University Student Scholar at Virginia Commonwealth University’s 32nd annual Opening Faculty Address and Convocation.
VCU’s University Student Scholars are those students in baccalaureate programs who have successfully completed 54 to 84 credit hours and currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
Mason is the granddaughter of Ernest and Virginia Hill III.
