A woman was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after her Honda Accord left the roadway and struck a tree on Route 58.
The accident happened at 6:07 p.m. just before the weigh scales on 58 eastbound, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink. The 27-year-old driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. One lane of the road was briefly closed.
The vehicle will be removed from the side of the road later this evening so as not to further disrupt traffic, Klink added.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
