Meatrice Walker

Meatrice “Meatball” Walker entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014. He was a native of Suffolk. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Walker Sr.; his mother, Bessie Mae Williams; his brother, Ernest “Buddy” Walker Jr.; and his sister, Shanita Lynette Golden.

He leaves to cherish his memories: four sisters, Sandra Walker-Cross, Jacqueline L. Ford, Marie Walker and Stephanie S. Hargrave (Antonio); one brother, Vance Walker, all of Suffolk. He also leaves 11 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces, -nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Meatrice cherished two very close friends, Quincy Baker and Lenart Williams (cousin).

Prior to his illness, Meatrice was employed at Kraft Foods (Planters) for 22 years.

Meatrice was known for being the life of the party, and love to laugh and have fun.

Mr. Walker’s visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Akeem Z. Walker will officiate the home going services. He will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke-Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guests at 131 North St. at all other times.
