Chargers run over Patriots

The Isle of Wight Academy football team used a perfect passing game and a 41-point first half to blow out host Portsmouth Christian School 47-0 on Friday night.
It was a big turnaround for the Chargers after they gave up 41 first half points in their 54-12 season-opening loss to visiting Atlantic Shores Christian School on Aug. 22.
On Friday, junior quarterback Bryce Casey helped IWA fans forget about the first-week loss by going 7-for-7 passing, resulting in 171 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots. He also ran for a touchdown.
Casey’s leading receivers were senior Josh Weihe, who had two grabs for 87 yards and a score, and senior Aaron Fronfelter, who caught two balls for 51 yards and a score. Fronfelter also returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown.
Chargers sophomore Caleb Davis returned a punt 60 yards for a score and was the Chargers’ leading rusher with 42 yards on two carries.
Senior Carson Robertson and junior Alec Edwards each ran for touchdowns.
Isle of Wight (1-1) hosts Kenston Forest School on Friday.
