Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to a two-alarm blaze at Wilson Pines Apartments on Tuesday evening.
The first 911 call was placed at 7:36 p.m., and the first units were on scene six minutes later. The fire was confined to Building D at the complex and spread to two apartment units and a breezeway, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.
No injuries were reported, Klink added. The 2500 block of East Washington Street was closed for part of the night.
A total of nine people from three families were displaced and were being assisted by the American Red Cross.
