Alexander Taylor Hurdle has recently certified as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional by the National Certification Board and the National Recreation and Park Association.
The certification is granted to individuals employed in the recreation, park resources and leisure services professions who meet the eligibility requirements — including a combination of higher education and work experience — and who successfully complete the national examination. The examination tests knowledge in all aspects of general administration, programming and operations management for parks and recreation. The certifications are valid for a period of two years, and professionals who wish to re-apply are required to complete a professional continuing education unit requirement or equivalent academic course work.
Certified individuals meet high standards of education, expertise and experience established in the field for park and recreation professionals, and many agencies recommend or require the certification when hiring for professional positions.
Alex is the son of A.L. and Ginny Hurdle and the grandson of Frank and Mary Lee Taylor all of Corapeake, and the late Lindsay and Janet Hurdle of Hobbsville, N.C. He is a 2009 graduate of Gates County High School and a 2013 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in sports management and is currently enrolled at North Carolina State University in the Parks and Recreation master’s program. He is currently employed by the city of Raleigh in its Parks and Recreation Department and at NC State University.
