Otis Lee Sweatt Sr., 84, of 1920 Carolina Road, Suffolk, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014. He was the son of the late Walter and Emma Boone Sweatt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Hall Sweatt; son, Otis Lee Sweatt Jr.; brother, James L. Sweatt; and sister, Elois Brackett.

Otis worked at and retired from Planters Peanut Company Inc. after many years of employment. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Suffolk.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Linda Sweatt-Freeman, of Baltimore, Md.; son, Dwayne L. Sweatt, of Suffolk; brother, William Thomas Sweatt (Edith), of Laurelton, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Susie Hall, Lillie H. Long and Betty H. White (Vernon), all of Suffolk; grandchildren, Tanesha Sweatt, of Chesapeake, and Chase Anthony Freeman (Tiara), of Baltimore, Md.; great-grandchildren, Cyree Brown, Caron Brown, Chloe Simmons and Caden Simmons; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 4849 Mineral Spring Road, Suffolk. Interment will be in Langston Cemetery.
