Duman, Holmes would ‘work for all’

To the editor:

I commend Councilman Mike Duman for showing leadership on education in Suffolk’s public schools.

Duman’s proposed task force, consisting of two City Council members and two School Board members, promises to begin a conversation that never seems to get started with the current class of elected leaders.

The war of words surrounding education funding that occurred during this past year’s budget debate leaves public school students with more than 100 green teachers, too few bus drivers and deferred maintenance on school facilities.

While the city may desire large capital building projects and other investments, nothing will keep bright, young families in Suffolk more than the promise of a quality education.

Let’s make that kind of education accessible to every child, and let’s send another person to council who is willing to work for all the people.

I heartily endorse Kerry Holmes for the Suffolk Borough seat in November’s election.
