Open Door Church will have its annual Tailgate for Christ party from noon to 5 p.m. this Saturday.

Located at 816 Kings Fork Road, the event will feature a chili cookoff, bands and fellowship, according to organizer Russ Darnell.

“We are having this event to bring churches together to create a multi-church environment,” he wrote in an email. “We hope to be able to reach out to residents living in west Hampton all the way to Emporia. All are welcome, regardless of what city you are from.”

A grill will be available for folks to cook their own meat. Guests should bring their own beverages as well.

Bands Crossword and Grace Harbor will perform. Folks should bring nonperishable items for the food pantry.

“This will be a great time of fun and fellowship, an opportunity to meet new people and form new friendships,” Darnell wrote.
